I-25 MVA Rollover 01/21/19 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 17:28 on January 16th, 2019 Local members responded to a MVA with a rollover at northbound I-25 at E. Orchard Rd. and north of E. Belleview Ave. Battalion 3 arrived to a 3-vehicle MVA with one vehicle on it’s roof, and advised MetCom to start additional medic. Engine 31 arrived and started extrication with Tower 35.
Landmark Way High Angle Rescue 01/21/19 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 00:20 on January 15th, 2019 Local members responded to parties trapped in a elevator at 7600 Landmark Way at the Denver Tech Center in Greenwood Village. Tower 32 arrived and advised that the call be upgraded to a high angle rescue. Battalion Chief 3 arrived on scene and advised MetCom for additional engine to the scene.
Marion Street Structure Fire 01/21/19 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
At 1:16 p.m. on Monday January 21st, Local members responded to a reported house on fire in the 6400 block of South Marion Street in Centennial. First arriving Engine 14 observed smoke visible from the rear of the structure and pulled a 1 ¾ line for fire attack. The homeowner and Sheriff Deputies were attempting control the flames and Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish them.
Picadilly Ct. Structure Fire 01/21/19 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
On Sunday January 21st at 11:39 am, Local members along with members from Local 1290 were dispatched to this garage fire in a duplex, near South Riviera Way and South Picadilly Court. The first arriving unit found smoke showing from the garage. They pulled an 1 ¾ line and initially worked off their own engine’s water.

Norwich Firefighters Local 892 is proud to announce that Battalion Chief Tracy Montoya has been promoted to Chief of Department. Chief Montoya has served the City of Norwich for almost 29 years. He has been the commander of Platoon 1 since 2007. Chief Montoya has also served in the US Navy and Navy Reserves for 33 years.

On the evening Wednesday January 9th, a small group local members put their athletic skills to the test during a basketball game with the Highlands Ranch Community Association, Therapeutic Recreation Southridge Nuggets Team. The Firefighters got beat for the second year in a row with a final score of 68-26, but both teams celebrated the victory!

Results of Local 21/3939 Merger Vote:
A “Yes” vote was a vote to merge
A ”No” vote was a vote to not merge
Motion to merge passes 75% - 25%.
These results will be provided to IAFF 5th District Vice President Tom Thornberg. VP Thornberg will carry these results to the IAFF Executive Board for final approval from the IAFF.

Public Safety Subcommittee of the Lamont Transition team 01/08/19 - UPFFA
The photo is of the final meeting of the Public Safety Subcommittee of the Lamont Transition team. The committee was tasked with developing public safety policies for the new administration. Among the policy initiatives developed and reported out are PTSD coverage for Firefighters and Police Officers and resources to tackle the opioid epidemic.
